Biography[]

Born in Capital City of Lordaeron, Kalm remembers little to nothing about his life before he stumbled into Darkshire. He remembers his early childhood. His brother, his sister, his mother and father. But he claims that everything fades into black after that.

He wound up walking into Darkshire one day, bloodied, battered and broken by something that he reffered to as a "nightmarish" creature. After days of questioning him, the townspeople concluded that what he was describing meant that he had been attacked by one of the "Dark Riders of Deadwind Pass". He had narrowly escaped with his life. It is thought that it was this event that had ruined his memory and that he had repressed his memory in order to forget the occurance. It is highly speculated that his claim of "memory loss" is simply a lie in order to refrain from speaking of his past.

Kalm cares little for government affairs. He often takes law into his own hands, chasing down bandits and petty rabble, defeating or slaying them where the law enforcement in the area will not do so. He has often been imprisoned due to this, giving him a poor reputation. He carries himself with a form of grace, contradicting his brutal combat skills, displaying a noble upbringing.

A dark and dreadful aura surrounds him, striking dismay into the minds of those he is around. Being around him will cause those who can feel his aura to grow used to it. The same aura can be felt in Deadwind Pass.

The Revealing - "The Dark Rider, Torment"[]

It was believed that Kalm was attacked by a Dark Rider while in Deadwind Pass. It was revealed to be a lie.

Kalm was a Dark Rider himself, titled "Gavinar the Black", he wrought absolute terror to the passer-by's who would dare traverse Deadwind Pass. It is unknown as to what his powers as a Dark Rider enabled him to do, but he was rumored to be able to drive his opponents insane with fear before slaying them.

It was said that no Dark Rider had ever lost prey. They would hunt survivors down, slaying them within a day.

Gavinar was, himself, driven mad after having his first opponent escape. A male Worgen named Jachen had managed to escape while Gavinar the Black slew his travelling party. Gavinar flew into a madenned rage after he counted the bodies, planning to hang them from the nearby trees as ornaments.

He hunted him down, DETERMINED to kill him.

His chase took him all the way to Shattrath. Jachen ran, Gavinar closing in very quickly. Upon entering Shattrath, Gavinar was stopped by a troup of guards, whom he quickly dispatched. His power was however, weakened from the ride and the battle, he was confronted by A'dal, who easily defeated him. Gavinar was hit with so much holy energy that it not only cleansed the evil from his soul, but it also infused him with the power of the Light.

A'dal allowed him to go free if he would renounce his ways as a Dark Rider, which was something that he agreed to do with great haste. He then left Shattrath, going to Stormwind to work as a Blacksmith. However... his secret wasn't to be held so 'secret' for long.

His secret was revealed due to a Priest. The Priest was easily able to sense his aura and made a scene, in which Gavinar, now "Kalm" was forced to take action against the Priest who had attacked him, believing that he was evil. Gavinar defeated the Priest, but his secret was revealed.

Accepted due to his quest for redemption among the people, he is one of the few to have had the past he had and then be able to walk through Stormwind without being harassed. Most even have a sense of respect for him through it.

How he became a Dark Rider in the first place is a mystery. This is something he just refuses to speak about freely. He has told very few, and even to them he has left out many many details.

The Crusader, "The Scarlet Fist"[]

After being in Stormwind for a while, Kalm quickly grew tired of life as a blacksmith.

"Enough damned metal and fire... not enough action. Not a day went by that I wished that someone would try to rob me... Folks in Stormwind are too nice. They have all the goodies thrown out in Westfall. Poor people though..." - Kalm

He heard about the religious zeal of the Scarlet Crusade and his only thought was "Adventure! Action!" He quickly set out, eager to join their fight against the Undead. The journey took him a couple of days, some days saved by the Deeprun Tram and a couple of Gryphon Flights.

Upon arriving, he was greeted with a less than satisfactory weclome crew. He was captured by the Crusaders themselves and tossed into one of their prisons. He didn't put up a fight though. His thought was "... if I attack them... what chances will I ever have of getting their trust...?"

Unfortunately, he was marked as a spy and was sentenced to death. He was to be killed by Herod, the Champion of the Scarlet Crusade three days from the moment that the information reached his ears. He wasn't going to just go without a fight. It was at this point that he realized where their zeal had gotten the Crusade to and he wanted no part of it.

During his stay, he was in the same holding cell as a Forsaken man named Berrand. Not realizing this man was his lost brother, nor Berrand knowing that the man imprisoned with him was his brother, they developed a bond of friendship and began to tell each other about their more current lives. Kalm would share tavern stories and Berrand would share the tales of how he took out the people he was sent to assassinate. Berrand told that it was one of his missions that was actually the reason that he was imprisoned. He had been sent to kill Sally Whitemane, but had failed and was imprisoned.

Kalm told him of his on the spur of the moment decision to join the Crusade in order to gain some kind of action or adventure, but his unfortunate welcoming comittee. Berrand looked at him awkwardly, obviously wondering why this man next to him wanted to join such a foolish cause. Kalm realized why Berrand was looking at him so oddly, so he explained his new idea of them.

Berrand nodded in agreement, but said with a solemn sigh that it was poor luck that let them meet on these "last days" of their lives. Berrand grabbed Kalm by the shoulder, telling him that he reminded him of his brother who he was seperated from in life, and that if the "petty war" between the Alliance and Horde were to just end, they could be brothers now.

Kalm nodded and the two "brothers" waited for their execution day.

The day came, and with it came fanfare. Herod had returned from slaying Undead in the Tirisfal Glades and brought back with him many treasures he had found whilst doing so. The brothers and many other people were marched out from the cells and into the Champion's room.

Three Orcs, two Undead, one Troll, and five Humans died before Kalm, his brother and a small group were marched out into the hall. Kalm was the first who was to meet Herod's axe.

He fought. The minute that Herod's axe came down, he rolled back, kicking the axe out of Herod's hands, he quickly broke his bonds, and stood ready to fight Herod. His brother watched in amazement as Sally Whitemane motioned for her men to stand still, and let what happens happen.

Herod nodded at Whitemane and retrieved his axe.

After a lengthy fight, Herod was beaten to a pulp. Kalm quickly led a breakout alongside his brother, but not before Whitemane intervened. She dealt a wound to him that wouldn't be healed for years to come.

Everyone except for a loudmouthed thief managed to escape, Kalm being dubbed "The Scarlet Fist" by Whitemane due to his victory, he would be forever remembered as the man whose fists shattered even Herod's armor.

He and his brother parted ways at the entrance to the Undercity, Kalm heading back to Stormwind to act as a mercenary as he is now.
